Died at Northwick Park Hospital on Saturday 13th March 2010.  Much loved husband of Daphne and father of Mary, Elspeth, Andrew, and Mark. Funeral Service at Our Lady & St Thomas of Canterbury, Roxborough Park,  Harrow HA1 3BE on Monday 22nd March 2010 at 11:30 followed by Cremation at Breakspear Crematorium, Ruislip HA4 7SJ.  Donations if desired to CAFOD. Freddie was born in Inverness, Scotland. He attended Christ’s College Finchley and Queens’ College Cambridge. His university education was interrupted by 5 years service in the Royal Navy during World War 2 during which time he served in the Eastern Fleet in the Indian Ocean. He had lived in Harrow for nearly 60 years. He was Chief Librarian of the British Medical Association (BMA) for the last 20 years of his career. He was author of a number of papers related to medical librarianship, and joint author of the definitive History of the BMA. He played a leading role in the creation of the Health Libraries Group of the UK Library Association and was widely respected in his role as first chairman.

Freddie devoted himself to his family, his garden, cricket and football and was passionate about many causes, including nuclear disarmament, world development and conservation.
